We're delighted to announce that our intrepid mountain biking duo of Nina McVicar and Reta Trotman will be staying in Hirepool colours as they prepare for their biggest challenge yet - an 8 day, 700km race through the gruelling mountains of South Africa's Western Cape region.
The Cape Epic is a physically gruelling and mentally demanding mountain bike multi-stage race. It is hosted amidst arguably some of the most beautiful natural surroundings in Africa. Every year the race follows a different route that takes riders through rugged terrain, up rocky climbs and down thrilling technical descents. It is an eight day journey that has, over the years, become a rite of passage for mountain bikers the world over.
Nina and Reta were victorious in 2017's Pioneer in NZ, but acknowledge that this is another step up. Nina told us "...both Reta and I are super excited and grateful to Hirepool for choosing to support us again for the Pioneer and also Cape Epic. We realise how lucky we are to have this opportunity and really look forward to doing our best and telling our tales as Team Hirepool!"
The Cape Epic will be raced from 18 to 25 March 2018. Keep an eye out for more news as Team Hirepool get down to the hard slog of training through the New Zealand winter and into summer to prepare for this great adventure.
