Hirepool responds to COVID-19

Like all of us, Hirepool has evaluated the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, and implemented a series of changes to the way we conduct business to help protect us all.  Please see the following for some detail on those actions and measures taken, and if you have any further questions and/or suggestions please do not hesitate to contact us via the details below.

 

Our team

We have implemented a series of actions to protect the health and safety of our employees, including restricting travel and meetings, the adoption of flexible working arrangements for those whose jobs allow them to work remotely, and recommendations to employees to follow the specific health protocols issued by the Ministry of Health.

We have asked our sales team to limit face-to-face contact as much as practicable, and we will be trying to maintain our business via webcams, phone calls and email.  We appreciate this is not always possible, so when our team do need to meet with others, we will be following the best practice guides issued by the Ministry of Health.

We are working on contingency plans that will facilitate the continued operation of our branches should the virus impact our branches, and are confident that we can move quickly to isolate employees and care for them when and where required, and keep our business operating.

 

Our customers

We plan at this stage to continue to open all of our 70 branches through NZ. Details on steps we are taking to reduce risk in those branches are outlined below.

We encourage all of our customers to take advantage of our phone-based ordering and our online-ordering facilities.  We have additional team members standing by to make these channels seamless and easy to use for our customers, and are increasing our capacity to provide deliveries of gear for your convenience.  All of our drivers are being upskilled in best practices to reduce or eliminate physical contact and potential spreading of the virus.

 

Our branches

In our branches we have implemented additional sanitation procedures. 

All of our customer service team will be paying increased attention to hand washing, and we will be following best practice guides from the Ministry of Health.  The team are conscious of the need to minimise close contact, so will be avoiding handshakes (sorry – but we are sure you will understand!) and will maintain physical distance as much as is practicable during transactions.

We have also imposed stricter sanitation procedures on our gear between hires, so that any risk of residual virus transmission is reduced. This means we will be providing additional cleaning to areas such as engine cabs, handles and throttles etc.  This cleaning extends to cleaning our in-store iPad’s used for transactions as well.

 

Our supply chain

Hirepool has been in close contact with all of our key suppliers, and currently have no concerns over our ability to continue to operate.  We have good stock of spare parts and consumables, and are working with suppliers to maintain open communication channels to ensure that remains the case.

Our contingency plans include scenarios where individual branches may have to close if the virus impacts them, and how we can continue to supply to customers if that is the case.

 

Hirepool & our financial health

At this early stage the full financial impact of Covid-19is difficult to measure, however we would like to reassure our stakeholders that Hirepool is in a strong position to weather the expected downturn and therefore minimise any disruption to our customers.

We will continue to monitor this evolving situation, and be in touch again if we need to advise of any significant changes.
