Hirepool Penrose was the first branch ever situated on the corner of Great South Road and Church Street. It was opened by the founders of Hirepool, Peter Brookfield and the late Eric Jarvie. Although the company was not called Hirepool then but Modern Industrial Methods Limited. The move to the current location came after Fletchers took over in the seventies.
Penrose has changed greatly in the last 50 years from a muddy swamp to a bustling industrial area and Hirepool has seen it all. Now a super site and Hub branch for the greater Auckland area, it also houses the company support offices above it.
