Hirepool Silverdale was opened in 1981 originally in Agency Lane but in just two short years the location proved unsuitable and the branch opened in its current location with much of the construction work undertaken by then General Manager Jock Wright. The Silverdale General Hire branch has been instrumental in the SH1's motorway push north as well as the ever expanding residential development in the area.
